Kino to Open Ajami (2009), Israel's Submission to the 82nd Academy Awards®, on February 3.
New York, NY - October 30, 2009 - Kino International is proud to announce the theatrical release of Ajami (2009), the acclaimed directorial debut of the Israeli-Palestinian filmmaking duo Yaron Shani and Scandar Copti. Ajami is set to open at New York's Film Forum and Lincoln Plaza on February 3, 2010, with a national rollout in March.
Winner of the Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Editing awards at this year's Israeli Film Academy ceremony (the Israeli Oscars), Yaron Shani and Scandar Copti's feature film debut had its world premiere at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival in the Director's Fortnight program, where it received a special mention by the festival's Caméra d'Or jury.

Kino picks up Dogtooth (2009) for US Distribution
Kino International (www.kino.com) has signed a distribution deal with MK2 to release Yorgos Lanthimos’ award-winning film Dogtooth (2009) in the United States; Kino is planning to release the film later this year.
"We are excited about introducing Yorgos Lanthimos and Dogtooth to U.S. audiences. It’s a hilarious absurdist statement about the complications of life in the 21st century and it totally deserved its Best Film prize at the Cannes Film Festival (Un Certain Regard) last spring,” says Donald Krim, Kino International’s President.

Kino Releases Acclaimed American Independent Film Loren Cass (2007)

Filmed entirely in St. Petersburg, Florida, with a bare-bones crew and a tight budget, Loren Cass gathered outstanding reviews on the film festival circuit in 2007. In that same year, the film was one of the five titles nominated for the Best Undistributed Film award at the IFP Gotham Awards.
